SCENE 1 INT. REAGAN HOUSE - DINING ROOM - NIGHT
The entire family is gathered around the table, plates mostly cleared. FRANK REAGAN (70s, composed, patriarch) is at the head of the table. The air is warm, full of laughter fading into calm reflection.
FRANK Family. Through everything we’ve been through—the heartbreak, the danger, the noise—we’ve stayed together. That’s no small feat.
The family murmurs agreement. ERIN REAGAN (50s, sharp and confident) smiles knowingly at JACK BOYLE (50s, charming), seated beside her. JAMIE REAGAN (40s, dutiful) rests a hand on EDDIE’s (30s, tough but soft) shoulder.
DANNY REAGAN (grinning) Yeah, even Jack Boyle gets a seat at the table now.
JACK (raising a glass) What can I say? I’m a sucker for punishment.
Laughter erupts, warm and familial. FRANK smirks.
EDDIE (to Jamie, mock whispering) Maybe next week we’ll find out if my crazy Aunt Linda wants in, too.
NICKY REAGAN (sipping wine, slightly pensive) Not everyone gets it, though. Out in California, people think I’m nuts when I tell them about Sunday dinners.
SEAN REAGAN They’re just jealous.
NICKY Maybe. Or maybe they think it’s a little… old-fashioned. How long can you keep doing this, Grandpa?
The room quiets slightly, and eyes turn to FRANK. He takes a breath, leaning forward.
FRANK It’s not about tradition, Nicky. It’s about priority. Everything comes down to one thing: what comes first?
NICKY holds his gaze, her modern sensibilities grappling with his timeless wisdom. After a moment, she smiles faintly.
NICKY Family.
FRANK's face softens with a warm and proud smile, his eyes beaming. The camera moves across the table. DANNY smirks, his eyes full of mischief. ERIN’s smile is subtle but tender, a quiet acknowledgment of their bond. JAMIE's gaze is steady and neutral, marked by a calm intensity as if silently affirming the moment. Finally, the camera lingers on HENRY, whose eyes glisten with emotion. He raises his wine glass toward NICKY.
HENRY Amen.
The others follow suit, raising their glasses.
CUT TO:
SCENE 2 EXT. HUDSON RIVER - DAY
The sun reflects off the water as FRANK sits at the river's edge, fishing rod in hand. The tranquility is broken by the sound of footsteps approaching. DANNY appears, hands in his pockets, watching his father for a moment.
FRANK (without looking over) What are you doing here?
DANNY Do you have an extra rod?
FRANK Always.
Neither of them move. DANNY shifts slightly, gazing at the water.
DANNY Dad, you ever think about getting married again?
FRANK (not looking over) Not seriously.
DANNY Why not?
FRANK considers, pulling slightly on his line.
FRANK Your mother wasn’t replaceable.
DANNY nods, quiet for a beat.
DANNY You think she’d want me to move on?
FRANK (looks over) I think she’d want you to be happy.
DANNY nods again, more to himself than Frank. A faint smile plays at his lips.
FRANK (sensing it) Maria?
DANNY chuckles, shaking his head.
DANNY How do you always know?
FRANK tugs on his line.
FRANK I don’t. You just told me.
They both laugh lightly. The camera pans to the still water as the screen fades to black.
FADE OUT
